lyrics
We walk for the children, and for our children’s children
We walk for the little ones, the weak and the small
We walk now together to gather our courage
To create a new future of life for us all
We have fouled the air, water, land and sea
The problems not just others, but also you and me
We must find a way of living that doesn’t leave a mess
We must give the earth some time to heal, we must learn to live with less
We fret about the economy, we say that times are tough
But when you measure life with money, there will never be enough
Our basic needs are simple, food, shelter, love
If we each used only what we needed, all would have enough
We fear the stranger, we avoid the unknown
We surround ourselves with folks just like us, we worship with our own
If we got outside our culture, saw ourselves through other’s eyes,
We might see some things that needed to be changed about our lives
If we lived more simply, without all our stuff
If we shared what had so that others had enough
If we welcomed the foreigner and sought after peace
Then there’d be no one we had to fear, the cause of war would cease
